President’s Report ~ June 2024
Branch Meeting 6/27/2024
I first want say that the Branch has not formally endorsed any candidates for the next national president of the NALC.
- This won’t happen until sometime in 2026 – when we get closer to the national convention in Los Angeles.
- And that endorsement will be voted on at a union meeting after the recommendations of the E-Board after reviewing all the facts
- Disregard any personal endorsements
Next – we have food tonight following our branch meeting
- To honor our two former Branch presidents
- And to say thank you – to all our members for all their assistance
- In collecting 744,570 pounds of food in this year’s food drive which was May 11th of this year
- Good job and that’s without bags
Contract updates
Radio silence – I have heard nothing new from what I was told in DC by the National President Brian Renfro
- Which was; the arbitration hearings should be starting soon
- Once hearing dates are announced – he will put them on the NALC website. (and none of the rumors floating out there can be confirmed).
- Soon as I hear something I will send out an email blast to the stewards to pass along to the membership
- We will know something hopefully before the National Convention – August 4 thru the 9th
- I have no idea why hearing dates have not been announced
Maximum annual leave carryover amount of 520 hours extended into the 2025 leave year
- Memo (M-02002)
- This memo which was signed June 21st will expire at the end of the 2025 leave year
- I would be shocked if this did not end up in the contract – since they keep extending it
OWCP Region 12 training June 2nd
- Was conducted by Kris Williams right here in our Hall
- She Is our Regional 12 – OWCP officer and works for the national
- This was an all-day training providing the latest information on the do’s and don’t’s when injured on the job
- Our local OWCP officer Joe Roman – who does an excellent job for us locally – attended the training as well
Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) Device
- Is up and mounted in the lobby.
- They are portable, life-saving devices designed to treat people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest (medically when the heart stops beating suddenly and unexpectedly).
- Each member of the Executive Board will receive training on the proper use of the device.
By-Law Committee
- Met prior to the Executive board meeting
- We plan to have proposed changes reviewed for recommendations from the Executive Board
- Which will be read at a subsequent meeting
- With prior notification sent to all members of the meeting we plan to vote on proposed changes.
- Then any changes that are adopted by the membership
- Will be sent to the NALC committee of laws – for final approval

Monroeville retirement
- I attended Monroeville Carrier Kevin Moore’s last day working after 36 years on June 21st
